Processes such as emulsification and homogenization, formerly done mechanically with large, energy-gulping machines, are performed ultrasonically today. Thanks to our miniature precision electronic components, heavy rotating blades have been replaced by metal tips vibrating at ultrasonic speeds to perform the same operation quickly, efficiently and with dramatically lower energy consumption.
